Commercial tire centers and truck tire shops repair and replace 22.5- and 24.5-inch tires, and many dispatch road-service trucks to truck stops and highways. Regular car tire shops usually cannot mount commercial truck tires.

Are retread truck tires safe?

Commercial fleets run retreads widely on drive and trailer axles; federal rules bar retreaded tires only on the front wheels of buses. Quality depends on the casing and the retreader, so buy from a shop that inspects casings before retreading.
